My Answer: I’m leaving later today for a week of vacation in Hilton Head, SC. While I’m there our family will be celebrating my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. I’m looking forward to a restful week.
(FYI, I may or may not post while I am away. No promises other than I plan to relax.)

My Answer: I reviewed two books this week – Talk Like TED and The Disciplined Leader. I’m also reading Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill, The Art of Work: A Proven Path to Discovering What You Were Meant to Do
by Jeff Goins, and Bleachers
by John Grisham. If the weather is decent tomorrow, I’m hoping to be on the beach reading a few pages in Ocean Grove, NJ. (I have several other books on my nightstand or in my book pile that may get some attention as well as the summer moves along.)

Professional wrestler, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, passed away yesterday. If you look him on Wikipedia, you will see that he had a storied career as a wrestler and trainer. Today’s Ice Breaker question is inspired by the world of professional wrestling.
My Answer: My brother, David, and I used to watch professional wrestling when we were kids. Our Mom wasn’t too crazy about it, but we loved to watch the weekly antics of the “athletes” to give us ideas for our own living room wrestling matches between each other. Many of our matches took place when our parents were away. Our babysitter would actually announce the match from the couch as David and I paraded down the hallway into the “ring” (the living room) and as we wrestled each other. One time, David lost a tooth while we were wrestling, and I think we even got it on cassette tape.
If I were a professional wrestler, my name would be Jon “The Swedish Fish” Stolpe. And my signature move would be “The Pickled Herring.” The move would involve grabbing a bucket of pickled herring from the ringside and shoving it down my opponent’s throat. When performed correctly, the opponent would gag and run out of the ring leaving me to bask in the victory and the consumption of a piece of herring on a rye crisp cracker.

I don’t know if you noticed or not, but the Stretched Ice Breaker has been missing the past two weeks. I’ve been busy with a few other commitments, and the Ice Breakers were one of the things to go as I had to prioritize.
It’s time to bring the Ice Breaker back. Today’s question is inspired by the last two weeks of skipping the ice breaker. It just so happens that many high school seniors (or is it all high school students) take the opportunity at this time of year to take part in the annual tradition called Senior Skip Day (or Senor Cut Day). They intentionally miss school and go somewhere fun with their fellow classmates.
I’m pretty sure this is not a legal activity or event (which is why I chose not to participate it in when I was a senior in high school); nonetheless, many seniors chose to skip school this one day of the year.
My Answer: I’m actually planning to take half a day off today, so I can stain my deck this afternoon.
If I were going to take a Skip Day now, I’d probably sleep in (a little). I’d head to the gym or to the trail for a walk, a run, or a bike ride. I’d possibly go to the shore (this is what we call the beach in the Philadelphia area), and I’d bring a book and a comfortable chair.
I don’t think I would need an excuse. I work hard, and my boss is generally pretty understanding when I decide to take a day off from work.

Today’s Stretched Ice Breaker is inspired by my daughter who started her first job last week working at a new Chick-Fil-A in our area.
My Answer: I worked as the “caretaker” for the eleven acre property owned by an elderly couple from my church. I worked my butt off cutting grass, splitting wood, raking leaves, and doing all kinds of other hard labor. When I started they paid me exactly $3.15 per hour (which was minimum wage at the time). I earned every penny of it.

May The Fourth is rapidly approaching which means my Mom will be celebrating another birthday and many will be celebrating Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with you!). Today’s Ice Breaker is inspired by Star Wars and the recent announcement of the latest addition to the Star Wars saga coming in December. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, see the trailer below.)
My Answer: I’ve always liked Luke Skywalker. He’s not perfect, but he seems to represent what is right in this world. As for an upcoming movie, I looking forward to seeing the latest Star Wars movie in December and the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie coming in March 2016.
Here are trailers to both movies:

My Answer: I use many different software packages for my phone, tablet, and laptop. It’s hard to pick out a clear favorite. One that I recently stumbled upon that I’m really liking is Periscope by Twitter. Periscope is an application for your smart phone that lets you live-stream to other viewers. It also lets you watch in on your friends when they live-stream. I love the comments and likes that appear on the screen throughout the live clip. Follow me at @jonstolpe.
